So, there are a lot of misconceptions around thrift shopping and the concept is still hard to digest to a lot of people around. Some think it includes cheap quality or worn-out clothes, well..well.. its far from cheap rugged clothing.

Thrifting refers to the act of shopping at a Thrift store or a flea market, usually with the intent of finding interesting items at a low price.

The products might be second hand or pre-loved, generally sold due to sizing issues or minor stitching defects. The items are usually in good shape with enough life left to be useful to a new owner. This is a very interesting way to find and add the most unique finds to you wardrobe.

For being an ace thrifter, you need to be a smart shopper and keep a keen eye on finding the best quality at a decent price range.

As the world is slowly shifting and adapting the nuances of slow-fashion and sustainability, its high time that we stop going gaga over weekly or monthly new launches of some XYZ brand and start giving back to the community.

Reasons why you should Thrift:

1. THRIFTING IS GOOD FOR THE ENVIRONMENT

Reduce, Reuse and Recycle, we’ve all been taught this mantra since our schooling but are we really implying this mantra in our daily lives? By thrifting, you are moving one step closer in saving our Environment. Instead of doing mindless shopping, shop with a purpose. Thrifting is gentler on the environment as it reduces pollution and waste. By choosing preloved items over newly produced pieces, you're shrinking your carbon footprint. Choose wisely.

2. THRIFTING IS GOOD FOR YOUR WALLET

Mostly, the thrift stores sell their products at very reduced prices, in comparison to their retail counterparts which makes it even better to shop and hoard your favorite items from the stock.

As mentioned earlier, slow fashion is the future. Lets say that there is a piece of clothing which does not fit you well or just sits in some corner of your wardrobe and is ultimately of no good to you, in this case, you can either try selling it out on online stores as it might be a use to someone else. This is how you’ll get rid of the item plus earning some money on the side doesn’t hurt much.

3. THRIFTING IS GOOD FOR YOUR WARDROBE

While going for a thrift shopping, you really have to get creative with your styling sense as you might end up getting a few vintage pieces which may or may not fit your wardrobe aesthetic. You'll definitely find some gorgeous and one-of-a-kind pieces for your closet only if you are creative enough to pair them up. These days, vintage checks and prints are so much in trend!! They are all over the internet but a smart shopper is someone who would want to stay in trend without digging a hole in their pockets, thus, enters flea markets and thrift stores. Thrift stores are chock full of treasures that are good for the environment and great for your aesthetic.

Hope this blog will help you plan your next retail therapy!

Happy Thrifting <3
