Series 1: Corsets

A trend which started way back in time and with this I mean way back in 1600 BC when Corsets were introduced to "beautify" women and to ensure modesty. They were worn as an outer garment and laced tightly with as many as fifty laces!

Corsets, back then were paired with huge gowns and stunning dresses with the lace giving the perfect body shape.

And guess what? The Corsets are back in trend and how! They are everywhere and can be paired with not just dresses but with crop tops, blouses, bodysuits, jackets, mini and midi dresses and a lot more..

Early pairs of bodies were typically made out of layered fabrics like linen and silk, stiffened with glue, and were tightly laced

Nowadays, they are made of leather, synthetic leather, cotton, silk, linen and many other fabrics with rubber and cotton ties. Another variety of corset belts is ruling the fashion industry by becoming a statement piece in every girl's wardrobe. These belts come in various different shapes, sizes and patterns and can be paired very easily. Following this, Corset tops got introduced which were slightly different than a usual corset fit but gave an illusion of the same.

Tops were more comfortable to wear and came with different necklines - square, boat, round, v-neck, adding to the versatility of this trend.

When in 1800s the primary purpose of corsets was to raise and shape the breasts, tighten the midriff, support the back, improve posture to help a woman stand straight, with the shoulders down and back, and only slightly narrow the waist, These days Corset tops and belts do not really have a motive or purpose and are just worn as a garment to elevate an outfit.

From Bollywood to Hollywood celebrities, everyone can be seen wearing these lacy bodices over shirts, gowns, denims and looking like a dream.

I personally love how innovatively we try and recrate vintage pieces into such beautiful adornments. Although, with a slight shift of motive but this trend is here to stay for long and long..
